Tigre: River Delta Panoramic Boat Tour

2.River Delta Panoramic Boat Tour

★★★★★★★★★★4.4 · 294 reviews · 1 hour · from $18Best value

Board Sturla Viajes at Tigre’s fluvial station for a one-hour panoramic cruise through the Luján, Carapachay, Angostura, Sarmiento, and Espera rivers. An English, Spanish, and Portuguese audioguide explains the island lifestyle as you pass homes, schools, churches, and the Delta Tierra reserve. The open upper deck gives the best views, though seats can fill quickly.

“The boat was on time. It was nice that the deck had enough space for all the passengers and provided good views. Unfortunately it wasn't a very scenic boat trip - this trip is basically going past hundreds of houses that look like they're about to flood and Tigre is an ugly, brown river. In terms of logistics everything was fine, but I don't think it's a great tourist attraction :).”

“The lady guide was non -professional. She could have told me in the very beginning that I am not part of her private tour. That's why it was surprising to me when found out that I won't be allowed to enter the van and visit the town! It's been frustrating anyway cause others looked at me as I were an alien ! Anyway, you could have told me before the trip begins ! On the other hand, the Naval crew was awesome!”

“Beware of the time noted on the ticket. Our ticket showed 09:00, but we were not collected from our collection point until 10:05. I did ask for the collection time to be confirmed, and the response was 09:30 to 09:50. The van was clean, comfortable, and air-conditioned. The tour leader, Georgina, had good linguistic skills and communicated well. The river cruise was excellent, and the tour of the old fruit market was terrific, even though it was short. We highly recommend this tour.”

“I don't usually write reviews but feel compelled to praise Fernando's exceptional service and great attitude. Even though I made a mistake Fernando made a disaster into a great day. We had a booking on Christmas day. I didn't see the email cancelling our booking because Fernando does not work on Christmas day. He took care of us anyway. His family had to go 400 Km to another city without him. He gave us the tour, then joined his family by bus. I have never seen such dedication or consideration. What could have been a disaster turned in to an excellent day. My wife and I had a great time.…”

They pointed out different animal and plant species and took us to lunch off the beaten path at a fantastic family run local restaurant where we had incredible empanadas, and even had an impromptu tango lesson! A truly beautiful day, spent with wonderful people. A MUST DO when visiting Buenos Aires! 10/10”

There were other people waiting there is well, on of which told me that they told him they will pick him up at 9:00. Nobody came, so I called the contact number which they state is for emergency only (there isn’t other number and I suppose this counts as an emergency?), they told me that the pick-up is at 9:40 which was actually the time at which I called and I told them there is nobody here. So, they tell me to wait and that the bus will…”

Guides such as Juan, Rafael, Sebastián, Frani, and Luiz lead the experience. Select the Paraná Delta option for a boat ride and option 2 for private pickup and drop-off.

“Did option 4- small speedboat, Tres Bocas, tren de la costa going, Mitre train returning. Guide Rafael and boat captain Danny Tiburon were great. Rafa spoke English perfectly, told funny stories, pickup was smooth. Danny drove the speedboat safely, carefully making sure we were not splashed by the wake when bigger boats would pass by. Need to read each of the options carefully as Options 1, 2, 3, 4 are all different. Bring mosquito repellent as it's marshy delta area.”
